Outside school time activities Looking for extra-curricular activities (outside school time) for my children

Many extra-curricular activities are organised in the Brussels-Capital Region. They take place during the school holidays, on Wednesday afternoons, after school, at weekends, etc. The activities are many and varied: sports, cultural, artistic, language courses, scientific awareness, tutoring, etc.

In addition, the community centres have a site with various activities geared towards the Ukrainian community: https://www.n22.brussels/oekraine

The Flemish Community Commission is contributing to the creation of a range of leisure activities both during the year and during the holiday period (July and August). Please note, the activities are generally offered in Dutch!
They are doing this by developing their own range of activities or by supporting associations that offer one. If you are looking for a specific range of activities (sports, games, culture, etc.), you can obtain relevant information by calling (+ 32 (0)2 563 05 88) or you can send your question via email to cultuur.jeugdsport@vgc.be. The VGC staff will then assist you as best they can. Questions can be asked in Dutch, French and English. Questions in Ukrainian and Russian can also be answered, with the assistance of a translation service.

We would also like to draw your attention to the leisure pass.
www.paspartoebrussel.be – Paspartoe is the dedicated leisure pass for Brussels and is now available for everyone. This allows you to take part in cultural, youth and sports activities at discounted prices. Paspartoe is your pass to leisure activities in Brussels!
Several libraries in Brussels have foreign language collections including books in Ukrainian and Russian. More information can be found at the following link.

FILM PROGRAMME:
CIRCULATION
Oleksiy Radynski (2020) 12’
Circulation presents the landscape and cityscape of Kyiv captured in a perpetual loop from the viewpoint of Kyiv’s ring railway, representing the gaze in permanent displacement, flight or purposeless wandering. The train’s circular movement suggests a society in constant transition without destination; a transition from the Communist ‘never’ into the Capitalist ‘always,’ revealing the city’s decrepit post-industrial areas, its newly-built affluent housing estates, its crumbling pieces of social infrastructure and parts of its ‘Westernised’ city centre.

DENDRO DREAMS
Elias Parvulesco, Teta Tsybulnyk (2018) 24’
A film about the relationships of humans and trees. An attempt to question human gaze upon nature, recognize subjectivity of a tree and approach its radical otherness.

IN JOY, AND ONLY IN JOY
Marina Roschina (2018) 27’
Kate is a young lonely mother. She falls in love with a fellow but does not have the courage to tell him that she has a son. As their relationship develops rapidly the revelation becomes more complicated. The choice between her personal life and responsibility for her son arises.

LILAC
Kate Gornostai (2017) 30’
May. Lilac blossoms in Kyiv. Five friends and alcohol from the nearest supermarket. You need to be brave to face your fears, but you need to be even more courageous to tell about them to your closest. Looking for Lilac’s cinquefoil to eat for good luck.
THE SECRET THE GIRL AND THE BOY (2017)
Oksana Kazmina (2017) 13’
The Girl and the Boy play in a garden. They are left alone there and they do not have any obligations to behave in a certain way. This gives them the freedom to create their own ways of interaction with the world. During such an interaction, adult social constructs inter-twist into weird children folklore and shift into an abstract sphere. There are secrets and various modes of being in the world of the Girl and the Boy.

Spectacle: Un 24 février, à l'aube

9 Ukrainian women talk about their home and their journey
The project "Un 24 février, à l'aube" is the result of the collaboration of nine Ukrainian women who have been refugees in Belgium for several months and a Tatar actress who has been living in Belgium for five years, Regina, who wanted to contribute to the reception of these women in Brussels.
They met during theatre workshops. Convinced by the interest and the richness of what they had to say, they decided to create a show based on the work done during these workshops.
This project is supported by the FEAS (Fédération des Employeurs des Arts de la Scène), the Théâtre Marni , Le Rideau , the Théâtre des Martyrs , the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles, the Théâtre Royal du Parc and the Théâtre Les Tanneurs
