Unfolding Landscapes - Art Exhibition
On the 29th of January the exhibition UNFOLDING LANDSCAPES presenting major artworks by 42 Ukrainian artists opened at KunstCentret Silkeborg in Denmark. That was before the Russian full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine had started and when many of us believed that this could not happen.
After the end of the exhibition in Silkeborg on 1 May the artworks were supposed to be shipped back to the respective lenders in Ukraine. However, it turned out that under the circumstances of war the works cannot be returned for an unknown period, since many of the owners – artists and collectors – are unavailable, their homes are destroyed, they are hiding, fleeing or fighting. Hence, the exhibition has become homeless, as are thousands of Ukrainian refugees.
Facing the scenario of homelessness, the European External Action Service “adopted” this exhibition and supported its relocation to Brussels - hopefully as the first stop of a large European tour. The Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels has kindly agreed to host this exhibition on their premises from 20 July - 18 September 2022.
This exhibition offers the unique opportunity to share Ukrainian culture with the European population, and to create a space with a sense of home for Ukrainians abroad and above all for Ukrainian refugees. It will also contribute to strengthening the image of Ukraine, which recently became an EU candidate country.

Opening the exhibition of paintings by Ukrainian artist Oksana Kornienko
On 24 February 2022, the whole world changed for every Ukrainian... Two women's destinies. Two friends. Poet and artist. For one - month of occupation, for another - a month under shelling and bombing... It so happened that fleeing the war, they found refuge in a wonderful, peaceful European country. When everything seems to be fine, but one of these days you are looking for news from Ukraine and it is impossible to forget even for a moment, even in beautiful Brussels. You have to do something. Do at least what you can ... Create paintings, poems... This is how this tandem was born - two creative women from Chernihiv, two kindred spirits inspiring each other

Support Ukraine: screening of the Ukrainian Shorts. Block 2
Join us for our new round of Ukrainian short films at Mendes Wood DM!
All proceeds will be directed to Freefilmers, an artist collective originated in Mariupol.
How Freefilmers takes action:
– Support for underground artists, queer activists and neurodivergent people affected by war on a horizontal basis of mutual aid.
– Support not only for the artist community, but their surrounding people, hospitals and volunteer centres.
– Transport of humanitarian aid, essentials, medical supplies and equipment to the regions most affected by war and taking refugees back to safer places.

Circulation presents the landscape and cityscape of Kyiv captured in a perpetual loop from the viewpoint of Kyiv’s ring railway, representing the gaze in permanent displacement, flight or purposeless wandering. The train’s circular movement suggests a society in constant transition without destination; a transition from the Communist ‘never’ into the Capitalist ‘always,’ revealing the city’s decrepit post-industrial areas, its newly-built affluent housing estates, its crumbling pieces of social infrastructure and parts of its ‘Westernised’ city centre.

A film about the relationships of humans and trees. An attempt to question human gaze upon nature, recognize subjectivity of a tree and approach its radical otherness.

THE SECRET THE GIRL AND THE BOY (2017)

The Girl and the Boy play in a garden. They are left alone there and they do not have any obligations to behave in a certain way. This gives them the freedom to create their own ways of interaction with the world. During such an interaction, adult social constructs inter-twist into weird children folklore and shift into an abstract sphere. There are secrets and various modes of being in the world of the Girl and the Boy.
